Brooks Running – Run Within Collection
I received a “media package” from Brooks Running with apparel from the Run Within Collection and a running bra. They are beautiful running and workout clothes that are versatile, stylish, youthful looking (some midriff showing with crop), and made with lightweight and breathable technical fabric in gorgeous colorways.
Typically, I purchase one piece at a time, let's say a pair of tights (usually navy), to wear with a top and a jacket that I tested and reviewed many seasons ago.
To run and workout in matching apparel from the Run Within Collection is revamping my look in a bold fashion, yet with a classy flair – let’s take a close look at the 3 pieces and bra, which are designed for cross training more so than just running.
It is important to take note that all apparel is made in El Salvador and with a large percentage of recycled polyester; up to 88% for the Run Within Sweatshirt, 80% for the Run Within Crop Tee and 74% for the ⅞ tight.
All items were true to my usual sizes: tops medium and small for bottoms.
Run Within ⅞ Tight (color: “Bluetiful,” $65)
The Run Within 7 ⁄ 8 Tights are lightweight and stretchy (26% spandex) with a waistband 1 ¾ inch wide that is a partly exposed elastic band material around the back and sides for a super comfortable and secure fit. Two small openings below the front waistband provide storage for small items. Made with stretchy and breathable fabric with minimal seams, the tights are extremely comfortable.
Brooks’ motto is “We’ve done our job if you forget you’re wearing our gear” which is particularly true with their Run Within ⅞ tight, as they are so lightweight and fit so well. I absolutely love the color which is called “Bluetiful” especially so when paired with the Run Within Sweatshirt in “Golden Hour.” Versatile tights, they are perfect for the gym, cross-training, running on the treadmill or outdoors when it is still too cold to wear shorts, and even yoga.
Playing tennis I like to wear the outfit with my skirt over the tights for warmth and comfort. It’s quite a nice look as the top drops nicely around the skirt. The tight are reasonably priced at $65.
Run Within Sweatshirt ( color: “Golden Hour”, $98)
I received my Run Within Sweatshirt in “Golden Hour” and it is also available in two additional colors: “Bluetiful” like the ⅞ tight, and “Violet Dash.” The fabric is extremely soft and stretchy (12% spandex/ elastane) as well as breathable.
The design is a relaxed fit with a back caped panel that increases the breathability factor by allowing air flow through the outer back layer.
We see much attention to details that add both function and decor such as the slanted zippered pocket in the front, the slit openings on the side, and the small slit in the collar. The sweatshirt drapes well above the hips resulting in a look that is both casual and elegant. A bit pricey for a sweatshirt at $98, however, I can anticipate getting a lot of wear from it.
Run Within Crop Tee (color:”Violet Dash Stripe”, $38)
The Run Within Crop is almost weightless and very freeing – if you are fine showing some skin around your midriff. The loose fit around the waist maximizes airflow to keep you cool in along withthe slit in the back, which can be tied as well. It is a “bold” design that is versatile and fun. I like the idea of a crop tee versus a crop tank as it provides some level of coverage around the shoulders especially as the “short sleeves' ' have some length to them.
The color is called “Violet Dash Stripe” which is very attractive and calming at the same time. I prefer wearing a longer top over tight but I am very comfortable wearing my Run Within Crop Tee over a workout skirt, skort, or short. It is reasonably priced at $38 – waiting for summer weather for plenty of wear!
The Dare Raceback Run Bra 2.0 (color: Bluetiful Altitude Print, $75)
I am a 34 D and finding the right bra is always a challenge. I am really happy with the Dare Raceback Run Bra as it provides both support and comfort and the built-in molded cups add a nice lift. It’s been a great run bra.
My last extra supportive bra created friction and resulted in chafing. Thus far, I have experienced no issues running and playing tennis. Zero area of friction. It’s my new go-to bra when running. working out and I will consider wearing it for lower impact workouts, such as hiking.
And an important recommendation if you wish to increase the longevity of your bra, namely it is preferable to hand wash and recommended to always line dry. Available in 4 different colors; I received mine in “Bluetiful Altitude Print.” Happy running!
