Tracksmith Federation Track Jacket ($150) and Federation Track Pants ($150)
Tracksmith continues to evolve its classic track and field inspired “apres” run, all day and more leisure time apparel. I have actually found these collections, with items such as the Commuter and Rapid Transit Pants, Merino Blend Crew and Harrier Tee to be my go to apparel for everyday wear for their comfort, style and cross over to sport functionality.
Here with the Federation Track Suit, the brand goes all in for cozy comfort and classic styling and less about cross over to run high performance. Made of a thick, very soft 79% Cotton / 17% Polyester / 4% Spandex, 300 gsm fabric the Jacket and Pants ooze relaxed fit and comfort with an easy fit with just the right amount of stretch.
Think of your most comfortable and warm winter pajamas you can wear everywhere and in high style. The suit is for sure an ideal winter long plane trip outfit.
Both feature lots of functional pockets and solid zippers with the Pants having lower leg zips, 2 side deep zip pockets and a drop in back pocket.
The jacket has a 2 side drop in pockets with on the left side over the drop in pocket a smaller card wallet size zip pocket. On the inside backing the drop in pockets are two giant stash pockets, great for gloves and hats,
Yes, the outfit can make a superb warm up and after track suit for those fall and winter chilly runs, for early morning short runs or to walk the dog but due to the cotton content and weight I am not sure how many longer runs I will be doing in them and especially in foul weather.
But.. then again, “back in the day” we trained in thick cotton sweatshirts and pants in all kinds of bad weather and not in sweats nearly as luxurious as this set!
Both feature a white and tan/ light green wide sewn on webbing stripe which highlights beautifully against the Navy blue.
The fit is true to size and for sure relaxed.I am 5’10” 162 lbs and the fit is just perfect for me and for the intended uses.
In this day and age of very pricey run and sport technical sport clothing, at $150 each I think the Federation Track Suit is very reasonably priced and a solid value, and particularly so the jacket, for such a well crafted and functional (in its own more casual way) tracksuit. It makes for a great holiday gift idea.
And don’t forget to include the Tracksmith Hat ($45) in Federation Blue to go with the tracksuit.
This classic six panel cotton baseball cap (built by Ciele for Tracksmith) has plenty of solid structure and has been my favorite cap of 2024, and not just for casual wear.
Tracksmith Hat, Harrier Tee, and Session Shorts
It has been fantastic and was even cool during countless summer runs and hikes.
I lost my sample in a TSA security bin and promptly bought another and I have many, many hats!
