Tifosi Optics Moab ($80)
The new Moab is similar to the Tifosi Stash (RTR Review), with the notable difference being the fully framed lens. The Moab has two options: either interchangeable lenses or Fototec lenses. The three interchangeable options are smoke with Clarion coating, All Condition Red, and clear. When choosing the interchangeable option, Tifosi offers three frames colors: Sahara, Plum Passion, and Blackout. For review, I received the Fototec lenses, available in the Satin Vapor colorway.
The Moab’s Fototec VLT (Visible Light Transmission) ranges from 14.5-65%. The transitions are quick and noticeable.

The transition works well when running from full sun to complete tree coverage/shade.

For trail running, the 65% VLT transmission is not obtrusive to vision in dimmer, although if I was running mostly full tree coverage trails, I’d elect to remove the glasses. So far, I have no scratches on the lenses.
Admittingly, I like Goodr sunglasses, but for trail running, they don’t last long. As most runners know, the lenses scratch easily, so a few times of shoving them into a vest pocket and they are done.
As Jeff wrote in his review of the Stash model, the Moab features adjustable nose and ear pieces. I had no issues with bouncing or discomfort when wearing these glasses, and at 31 grams, they disappear when wearing them. Well, at least in terms of feel.
The obvious style factor is that they are large for my face, so I wouldn’t choose these for casual wear (although I did wear them on the tractor while harvesting this year). The length is slightly more than the Stash at 149mm as compared to 146.5mm, and the width is 56mm as compared to the Stash’s 53mm. The ventilation holes will be a good asset during cold weather running, when I often wear a buff across my face.
At $80, I think the Moab are a great buy, and I would suggest them for those who like a large coverage style of sunglasses. The quality of the lenses and frame are surprising for the cost. My only cons are the slight glare/reflection in full sun, but to be fair, I have the same glare/reflection in my $200 pair of Article One x Ciele sunglasses.
