Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 41 ($140)
The venerable Pegasus, Nike's all around daily trainer sees the most significant changes in many, many years for its 41st edition and they were overdue! In the video, I detail the changes and share what I discovered on 2 first runs.
It gets 43% lower carbon footprint impact ReactX injected midsole foam, prior was compression molded. The new foam is said to have 13% better energy return than the prior React and is softer. The Air Zoom units front and back remain.
The geometry changes with 4mm more stack height front and back to 37mm heel / 27 mm forefoot with new sculpting of the midsole sidewalls. Despite the significant increase in stack height the weight only increases 13g to come in at a reasonable approximately 9.9 oz / 281g US9.
The upper is a simple soft engineered mesh while the many surfaces outsole gets more lateral and less medial coverage.
