Tracksmith Eliot Runner ($198)
Tracksmith Running launches its first running shoe, the Eliot, joining its now iconic New England inspired apparel.
My US8.5 sample weighs 9.1 oz / 258g with a stack height 33.5mm at the heel and 24.5mm in the forefoot, 9mm drop so classic daily trainer stats and geometry.
Entirely PEBAX foam powered, the Eliot's midsole is dual density with a 2x thicker than usual 10mm sockliner of PEBAX foam serving as the top softer layer of the midsole with below firmer PEBAX as the main midsole. A firm to pressing tan outer coating protects the side walls of the midsole and helps stabilize the shoe.
The outsole is a gum rubber type material with quite prominent forefoot lugs and a broad expanse of rubber at the heel.
The upper is an engineered mesh with bootie tongue with a very secure performance and almost trail shoe like true to size fit.
And, yes Tracksmith in its marketing calls out the varied surfaces we run on in New England from road to dirt to forest paths with of course the Eliot looking sharp after any time as a lifestyle shoe.
So how does it run? Where does it fit in best? Road, Trail, Lifestyle, Gym? All or are there compromises?
Watch our video review as we tested in New England to find out with a full multi tester review coming soon. The Eliot Runner is available now at Tracksmith.
