What are thoughts on the toe box height? I ran a 50 miler with 14K gain/loss this last Oct, in a pair of Cascadia 16's, and lost both of my big toe nails due to bad toe bump. The Cascadia's were the correct size length-wise, so I'm suspecting it was the fault of an overly low toe box height combined with the TPU overlays in that area of the shoe.
@Ryan
Toe box height and overlays are similar between Cascadia and Catamount. Neither particularly broad or high but fine for me and I have a dodgy big toe but haven’t gone long yet in them. They are more a shorter faster type shoe that can go long. Question? When you say “correct” were they had your usual size, not over sized slip forward or under jammed toes. Also was it hot and your feet swell? Sam, Editor
@Ryan - In a lot of Brooks shoes, I tended to find that they tapered too much up front which was especially noticeable on the medial side. They would feel somewhat fine when standing in them, but I would get edge blisters on the insides of my big toes. I found this with Catamount 1 and similarly with the Caldera 6.
The Catamount 2 toebox is more squared off at the front, so much better in this regard. Not sure if that would be the same thing that causes your issue, but it could be helpful to have a bit more wiggle room on the big toe side.
