Gorewear Concurve Windbreaker ($120)
The Concurve Windbreaker is a running jacket designed with enhanced comfort and protection. It features a double weave main fabric that combines wind-blocking protection with breathability.
A lightweight shell (5 oz ) with an optimized fit using kinetic design it offers a full and unhindered range of motion when running, yet in a streamlined look.
The fit is extremely comfortable and true to size along with being unrestrictive, and the look is streamlined, yet on the loose side. I am able to comfortably wear two lightweight layers underneath in cold weather conditions, and then remove a layer as the weather warms up.
The “Scrub Purple” color has generated compliments from strangers on a few occasions - last year I tested the Gore-Tex Concurve jacket in the same color, but which had a sleeker look.
The double weave fabric has a soft and supple feel along with an “anti-cling wet interior” namely, some texture on the inside thus adding to its highly breathable properties. For a running jacket with wind-blocking protection, the breathability and comfort factor on the run is remarkable thanks to the double weave fabric.
As a windbreaker, the Concurve running jacket offers some light rain/damp protection from the DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment as it creates a barrier on the surface of the fabric causing water to bead up and roll off as opposed to soaking into the fabric.
That said it is not a "waterproof" jacket. For higher wet weather performance look to the Gorewear Gore-Tex Concurve Jacket (RTR Review).
The cuffs have an elastic insert on the underside with a flat front creating both a snug fit and a clean look. Judging from the pictures and wearing it, the length of the sleeves is a tad bit long.
Additional functional features include two large size front zippered pockets, a lined ergonomically shaped collar, a full front double direction zipper that can be unzipped from the bottom when added ventilation is needed, a hem drawcord to loosen up or tighten the bottom of the jacket, and reflective details on cuffs, elbows, shoulder, waist, and center back. In addition, the jacket is packable in its own pocket.
Available in 7 different colors – my color sample in “Scrub Purple” is currently on sale for $98 - and in sizes from XS to XL.
Testing and Conclusions
The month of October in Park City, Utah, has afforded plenty of opportunities to test my Concurve Windbreaker, as mornings are chilly when going for a run, hike, bike ride, or walk. Extremely comfortable, protective, and versatile, I anticipate to get plenty of wear as the weather gets colder by wearing a warmer layer underneath.
Gorewear is also well known for its cycling apparel. My Concurve Windbreaker running jacket was also well adapted during cycling outings.
Reasonably priced, especially in the “Scrub Purple” ($98 as of Oct 14, 2025 at Gorewear), the Concurve Windbreaker delivers performance in windy and cool weather conditions for a wide range of activities with plenty of style and in total comfort.
