Our reviewers tested over 145 running shoes, apparel, and gear products in 2019, logging thousands of miles and many races. They share their favorites of the year in the individual articles below.
Not every reviewer ran in every shoe be it road or trail and we had more pairs for some models than others but some clear favorites emerged.
At an amazing 8 oz with plenty of cushion, upper support, and protection it is as Dom Layfield put it: "This was a breath of fresh air in the trail shoe world". On a "consensus" basis it is the top vote getter of any 2019 shoe.
The Hoka One One Speedgoat 4 (RTR Review) or lighter, more flexible EVO Speedgoat (RTR Review) were on several lists as trail shoe of the year or best all arounder.
No surprise the Nike Next% (RTR Review) was on many lists as the ultimate longer race shoe for its amazing cushion and dynamism at a sub 7 oz weight.
For shorter road races the Skechers Performance GoMeb Speed 6 Hyper (RTR Review) was a clear favorite of the team. A midfoot carbon plate and Hyper Burst made it a rocket.
The road training category saw a number of favorites each getting more than one nod : Nike Zoom Pegasus Turbo 2 (RTR Review) , New Balance 1080v10 (RTR Review) , ASICS Glideride (RTR Review) , Saucony Triumph 17 (RTR Review),Hoka Carbon X (RTR Review), Topo Zephyr (RTR Review) , Skechers Max Road 4 (RTR Review) and Razor 3 (RTR Review).

Would be great if RTR would show the indicative height and weight (in both cm-kg and ft-lbs) as lighter and heavier runner's may respond differently to mid soles of varying firmness and rebound.
Thanks!
Hi Andy,
That's a great idea. I asked reviewers to list their height and weights and only two have done so and I include in tester profiles, me, our slightest reviewer Sally and our tallest and I think heaviest reviewer Mac. Will try again as it is useful to know as you rightly point out.
Thanks!
