Skida Running Cap ($48)
As a New Englander who grew up in Minnesota and loves all things outdoor, I am unabashedly a huge fan of Skida winter hats for running, nordic skiing, alpine skiing (under helmet), and all winter activities. I was gifted my first Skida alpine hat before others had even heard of it; I still have this hat with its large yellow, blue, purple and green polka dots. Here I test their Running Cap.
The company was then just a fledgling business, founded in Vermont in 2008 by a Middlebury nordic skier named Corinne Prevot who wanted a more fun and whimsical way to keep her head warm. Friends loved the colorful hats and the business snowballed. Fourteen years later, Skida is still based in Vermont and the business is flourishing with multiple product lines.
I admit to owning just a few Skida hats! I prefer the fleece-lined alpine hat over the unlined nordic hat because I run cold; I wear one of these every single day for running in the winter so one can never have too many! (At least that is my rationalization.)
I was recently given the opportunity by Skida to test the new Skida running cap for summer running, and it did not disappoint. I do have and like the Skida brim hat, but this new lighter and flexible cap is ideal for running.
It is lightweight, breathable, sweat-wicking and crushable. Crafted with UPF 50+ material, it provides great sun protection and an ideal sized brim.
The mesh paneling ensures optimal airflow so your head stays cool, even in the hottest conditions and during the most intense workouts. Its soft crushable design makes it easy to stow in a pocket or fanny pack.
The sleek design offers an easily adjustable snug and stylish fit, perfect for all types of athletes. And best of all, the fun colorful prints keep you cool and protected in style!
I have a small head but had no problem customizing the fit of this hat with the adjustable buckle in back.
It stays on securely and comfortably. I do not have a ponytail, but for those that do there is a great opening in back of the cap to pull their ponytail through.
I have worn this cap for numerous runs and hikes and have been very impressed with its performance.
It is lightweight and breathable with a perfect-for-me sized brim, not too broad and yet not too shallow.
The biggest compliment that I can give this cap is that I forget I have it on! I can’t wait to see what fun colors and prints they come out with next year. I give this running cap two thumbs up!
