Saucony Switchback 2 ($140)
I take the Saucony Switchback 2, a light, low slung trail runner, for a first test run on smoother single track in Park City, Utah. It releases August 1st.
It has a 22mm heel / 18mm forefoot stack and weighs in my size US9 sample size 9.17 oz / 260g. It differs significantly from the Switchback ISO in having Saucony new and bouncy PWRUN + expanded bead TPU midsole replacing the prior version's Everun TPU,which was a denser, heavier material.
The PWRTRAK sticky rubber outsole remains unchanged but now we have included a woven braided flexible rock plate.
The upper has a BOA System closure that instead of acting as laces across the foot, as in the first ISO version, wraps the top of the foot with a panel with the soft cords on the side of the foot.
