Nike GORE-TEX INFINIUM -- Women’s Trail Running Jacket ($190)
A fusion of trendy design and high performance mixed with a sustainable platform, the Nike GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ is a cutting-edge jacket with a minimalist look that conceals a load of functional design elements.
This jacket will surely jazz up your style on the trails, yet all design elements are conducive to optimizing your comfort level and keep you moving.
Made with GORE-TEX INFINIUM, a new product technology that is fully windproof and water resistant but designed for dryer conditions in comparison to its waterproof GORE-TEX counterpart. It also allows for a thinner, softer, more pliable overall feel as we have here.
The upshot is that GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ while being windproof and water resistant, is also highly breathable (and more so than regular Gore-Tex or Gore-Tex Active), thereby keeping you drier inside your garment.
The jacket is a pullover design that transforms into poncho style coverage when unzipping the two-side zippers. No opening in the front means enhanced wind protection while ventilation is optimized to the max when unzipping the side zippers, which extend from the bottom hem up to the armpits.
To ventilate your armpits and/or part of your upper body, the zippers double up as “pit zips” operating both from the top and the bottom.
I am truly impressed by the level of functional details incorporated into the design of the jacket.
The fit is extremely comfortable in a roomy kind of way. My sample was my usual medium
A rear cord adjustable roomy hood with a high collar keeps you protected against the elements. You can wear a hat underneath it
If weather conditions get rougher, you can pull the detachable balaclava over your face for added protection.
The sleeves, as mentioned above, are equipped with pit zips as well as cuffs for added protection along with some ventilation via a slit covered opening above the cuffs.
An invisible and roomy zippered pocket is integrated into the inside mesh of the back of the jacket and also serves to stow the jacket.
If you are looking for a weather resistant jacket with a front zipper, then the women’s Nike GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ won’t cut it for you. Look at the men’s version that comes with a front zipper!
The GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ jacket will keep you covered, and I can foresee that I won’t be tying mine around my waist as I can stay cool by unzipping both side zippers with the added bonus of keeping my chest protected from the elements.
Also noted, the jacket is made of up to 75% recycled polyester fibers (as per specs).
I am utterly pleased by the overall roomy feel, functional features, trendy design and high-performance level of this jacket, which will be more than fitting for the trails in Park City this winter on the run and nordic skiing.
Available in 3 different colors with long names: Enamel Green/Biocoastal/Green; Black/Dark Smoke Grey/Black/White; and Mantra Orange/Cinnabar/Bright.
Along with the Nike GORE-TEX INFINIUM jacket, I tested (RTR Review) the 7/8 length Nike Go Legging ($110), in my usual size small. As shown below they actually look full length. I am 5' 5 1/2".
I am also testing the Nike React Pegasus Trail 4 GTX which are trail running shoes that are also very fine for winter road running given their Gore-Tex upper and lugged outsole. Review soon.
