ASICS Trabuco Max ($140)
I take the January release Trabuco Max ($140) for a 1st run on my test trail with some road loop and they were fast!
At at light 10.15 oz / 288 g with a stout 28mm heel / 23mm forefoot stack of cushion they have ASICS Guide Sole technology first seen in road Glideride, Evoride, and Metaracer which of course I was curious to see how it translated to trail!

Hi Jeff, Zero issues with the top tongue. It is soft and yes kind of puffy looking mainly as the pocket for the quick laces, unlike say Salomon is very easy to get at. And quick laces are also very well done, no slip no bite Sam, Editor
Hi Jim, check out the YT for more details but while not "wide" per say the soft front mesh and quite pliable but extensive front overlays making them effectively on the wider side. A trail shoe should fit securely as this does without pressures including having nice vertical volume and here the front give of the mesh should accommodate a fairly broad array of feet. Sam, Editor

Looks like a promising offer by ASICS. What’s going on with the tongue? Looks like it comes up high. Did it cause any rubbing?
