The Accelerate is the uptempo trainer/racer in the Salomon Sonic 3 line. It features a Dow Infuse shock absorbing highly responsive Optivibe olefin based main midsole and a vibration reducing viscous memory foam heel insert. The upper is engineered mesh with Salomon's trademark SensiFit underlays with no bootie. The outsole is classic Contagrip with a geometric decoupling empahsizing an agile toe with plenty of forefoot stability.
In the video I detail the shoe's features, take a first and fast for me run at altitude 6800 feet/ 2200 meters in Park City, Utah with a Strava segment PR on a downhill and two 2nd bests on uphills on a 3 mile loop I have done many times, comment on the fit and compare to other shoes in its class as well as the very similar construction Sonic 3 Balance (RTR Review) with more stack, more outsole coverage and a different decoupling line location providing more forefoot stability.

Sam, I am trying to decide between the Balance and the Accelerate to use as a daily trainer for marathon training. I get on much better with a firmer shoe, but is the Accelerate going to be a bit punishing for everyday miles? I tend to land mid- to forefoot, and am wondering whether I will get all the benefit of that blue foam which seems to be concentrated at the heel? I would be interested in your thoughts. Thank you.

I'm currently on the ra pro 2 and can't wait to move on to the Accelerate (in black)! It seems like an overall improvement in all aspects, even in something as simple as seeming to have more rubber coverage in the outsole. So far the midsole has been great and I wouldn't want more cushioning or drop, 6mm is already more than I have ever used. Btw, an accelerate with sense 7 outsole would be perfect for runnable and nontechnical trails!
