That's right Mammut started in 1862 as a rope maker and since then internally and through acquisitions has grown to cover all aspects of mountaineering and hiking. The catalog with tiny images is almost 300 pages long and includes everything from climbing gear to backpacks to apparel and a vast array of footwear. I have owned Mammut apparel, several bright red checked short sleeve shirts over the years. Swiss colors, Swiss quality.

Available in March 2019 in Low ($129), Knit Low($179) and  Low GTX ($159), the Saentis bridges running and hiking.

The Saentis Knit Low has a rear knit upper stabilized to the rear by straps connected to the lacing.  The front is conventional breathable mesh. The women's version shown above weighs  9.9 oz/280 g in a US women's 7.5.  The men's US 9 weighs about 11 oz.

The Saentis has an aggressive Michelin Trail Claw outsole

Masao Light HS Hooded Jacket

The 233 g Masao Light has a 3 layer waterproof breathable Mammut Dry Technology Performance construction with 20K waterproofing combined with exceptional 24K breathability. It has underarm zips for venting, a tailored, adjustable helmet compatible hood with reinforced peak, and two deep harness compatible pockets. The styling and features will take this jacket anywhere.

These beautiful multi activity shorts for men and women really caught our attention. The fabrics were rich in feel and color and seemed very durable. The light stretch fabric is perforated for breathability, freedom of movement and quick drying. We liked that the men's had 3 pockets (two slit and one leg)  all zip closed. Women are not left out with 2 zip slit pockets.

The launch and fashion show occurred on a hotel roof top complete with dancers demonstrating the styles, and for the first time for me as we were way above the concrete canyons of Denver and the Convention Center,  I had a sprawling if distant view of the Rockies. And in true Swiss fashion there was a great assortment of authentic fruit schnapps to sample!

The acrobatics sure demonstrated the line will hold up and the longer style shells were a propos as a thunderstorm of epic proportions just missed us.
