Welcome everybody. I'm Steve. I'm Jamie. We're with Road Trail Run and we're reviewing the
0:12
New Balance Rebel V4. So Jamie, what are some of the experiences you've had in other versions
0:18
of the Rebel? So I never got to run in version one, but I've run in multiple ones in version
0:25
two and version three. It was my kind of favorite daily trainer, but also like uptempo shoe
0:31
as well. Okay. And what would you say like just between those versions is version four
0:37
an upgrade? Do you think it's a downgrade? Maybe what are some of the pros and cons of
0:40
the changes? I think version four has a little more versatility than the previous ones. It's
0:45
got kind of a little bit more wiggle room, a little more stack height. So it's kind of
0:51
a better option for daily training and daily miles versus in some of the previous ones
0:55
It might be a little bit, a little too minimal for those like daily training runs. Awesome
1:02
So what are some of the major differences in terms of like the midsole foam compound
1:07
stack height and so forth? So version four has a 20% Kiba, 80% EVA. It still has the
1:14
Fuelcell midsole. It's still a six millimeter drop. Just like version three. This one's
1:21
a 33 in the heel, 27 in the forefoot. And then version three was 28 in the heel, 22
1:27
in the forefoot. So it still keeps that same six millimeter drop. It's just slightly higher
1:32
in the stack height. And what's interesting about that too, is we, we see a larger stack
1:40
and also a wider platform, but we lost nine grams in weight for the average sizes. So
1:48
some of the size differences with the weight version four, we're looking at 7.3 ounces
1:54
for a men's US nine and then 6.3 ounces for a US women's eight. And that's nine grams
2:01
less than the previous version of V3. What about the width? Width I would definitely
2:07
say is a little bit more roomy, more accommodating. So V4 is 97 millimeters in the heel, 120 millimeters
2:16
in the forefoot versus version three, it's 76 millimeters in that heel and then 110 millimeters
2:24
in that forefoot. So about 10 millimeters more in the forefoot. So anyone with a wider
2:30
foot or want something with a little bit more toe splay, it's going to be a greater option
2:35
And I can say without a doubt with having that extra width, I think it definitely opens
2:40
it up to more runners. And in terms of like stability, I think it makes it a little bit
2:45
more stable of a platform too, because it's not nearly as narrow as the previous version
2:50
Talk about maybe some of like your personal experience running in the shoe, what you like
2:54
about it, what you don't like about it. Yeah. So compared to version three, which a lot
2:58
of people would say was super soft, super bouncy. This one kind of loses some of that
3:04
bounciness and it creates, still has that nice responsive feel. It's not going to be
3:09
quite as bouncy as the previous one. So it's got a little more ground feel, I would say
3:13
which some people might really like. Personally, I really, I loved version three and had many
3:19
pairs of them. And I love them for those kind of up-tempo efforts. Version four, I would
3:25
say you could definitely get a little bit more of those like easy miles, kind of daily
3:29
training options without feeling like you need to run super fast in it
3:34
I'd completely agree with that too. I think the softness, it takes a little bit of the flex
3:38
out of the shoe, but it also makes it fit more in that daily trainer kind of category
3:43
So it may increase its versatility because it's still obviously light enough to do like
3:47
up-tempo work, but it has the wider base. It has a larger stack that's going to carry you
3:54
through a lot of easy miles too. Absolutely. Awesome. Let's see these on the run
