Altra Vanish Carbon ($240)
Update: Vanish Carbon Full Multi Tester Review
In the video I get into all the tech details, fit, ride and comparisons and conclusions for Altra's first super shoe.
The Vanish Carbon weighs approximately 7.65 oz / 222g in a US9 and has a 33mm heel, 33mm forefoot stack height. The midsole is Altra's new supercritical EGO Max Pro foam with a 3/4 length Carbitex asymmetrically flexing plate with 3 blades for a broad, stable, smooth and dynamic toe off and appears to be dual density with a slightly firmer lower layer especially noted at the heel in combination with the thick rubber there.
The rocker starts at 65% to the front of the heel,
The upper is a combination of front very thin single layer mesh and rear non stretch mesh. It is Altra's "Slim" fit but for sure roomy.
The "EVA foam" outsole appears to be of the hardened variety with copious thick coverage front and back.
