  1. Hi Sam - which has the more stable heel and better toebox volume, Speed 2 or Mach 4?

  2. Hi Buck,
While clearly improved for me in Speed 2 the Mach 4 is clearly more heel stable. Mach 4 toe box and overall fit is somewhat broader and higher volume.

  3. Hi Sam,

Thanks for the review and what a great site!
I know they are of different classes, but how does Speed 2 compare with NB1400. The latter is my all time favorite shoes. I ran and raced everything including long run and Marathons with it. But my feet were always sore and beat with it. Now running in Mach 4 for most of my runs and trying to find a racing and workouts shoes. I have the Speed 1 which is kind of good but feels a little unstable and not secured compared to 1400. I would appreciate your input.

Thanks again for all you offer here!

  4. Hi Sam. Has Saucony advised whether the plate geometry/shape and/or density been changed? If you don’t know yet can you ask Saucony?

  5. Hi Anonymous,
Saucony was clear in their materials no changes underfoot plate, outsole or foam. While when the shoe was brand new it was far stiffer than my older v1 with about 30 miles on it by the 2nd run flex was building. Other than stiff when new and now changing to more flexible I detected no foam changes and I am pretty astute in picking these out. The new heel counter as discussed in the video for sure stabilizes and directs the ride something I could clearly feel.
