In the video, I'm going to give you my
0:01
first impressions of the Normal Kasurag
0:04
2. So, it gains 2.5 millimeters in stack
0:08
height while only gaining 5 g in weight.
0:11
I will take them out on an AB run with
0:14
the version one in the forest of New
0:16
Hampshire. Hello everybody, Sam from
0:18
Road Trail Run. Today we're going to
0:20
take a look at the NN Normal Kasurak 2
0:24
and compare in an AB test run to version
0:28
one of the Killian uh shoe and also the
0:31
Elusine shoe which has already proven
0:34
itself in 2025. So what are the big
0:37
changes? Well, the uh 2 gets 2.5 mm more
0:42
stack height of a of a brand new TPE uh
0:46
superc critical foam. yet. It only gains
0:49
5 grams over version one. We also have a
0:53
new matrix upper that is uh lighter,
0:58
softer than the old version which is
1:01
here. Um, we get considerably more
1:05
padding around the collars and we get a
1:10
stretchknit tongue here that connects as
1:14
a gusset down below versus the
1:17
leatherrett here. So, uh you can see
1:20
right away
1:22
uh in terms of the toe box and both of
1:24
these are my 8.5
1:27
that version one appears to be kind of
1:31
uh more form fitting than the broader uh
1:35
version uh version two uh versus version
1:39
one. I you'll see as I uh comment on the
1:42
fit that these ran very long. um I could
1:46
have sized down half a size whereas here
1:48
they fit truer to size. Although I think
1:51
if you have a very a broad to very broad
1:54
foot you might size up half here but I'm
1:56
truer to size now in version uh two than
2:00
one. Terms of the outsoles,
2:04
uh, identical as far as I can tell. And
2:08
you can see both with 3.5 mm lugs and
2:13
kind of a broad pattern for uh,
2:16
multi-uses.
2:18
Platform stays exactly the same uh, in
2:22
terms of width at 80 mm heel, 55 mm uh,
2:26
midfoot, 105 4 foot. Going to take them
2:29
out now for a jaunt here on these
2:32
trails, which are, I would say, a
2:36
combination of fairly easy and
2:39
moderately technical. So, a pretty good
2:41
test. Not a lot of uh vertical here, but
2:44
uh sharp, steep hills. So, I'll be
2:47
giving you some commentary from the run
2:49
as I go along. Stay tuned, please.
2:51
So, our version one has quite a bit of
2:57
length. You can see more more than a
3:00
thumb. Whereas here we are at about a
3:03
thumb. So lengthwise
3:05
the uh version two is true size whereas
3:09
the version one little broader fitting
3:12
up front. Uh well held that big toe
3:16
bumper helps but it's generally a bit
3:19
more relaxed fit in version one than
3:22
version two. So I'm on the smooth. I'm
3:25
going to give you some first thoughts
3:27
about the ride
3:29
comparatively speaking.
3:32
So, version one with less 2.5 mm less
3:38
stack height
3:40
and barely five grams less weight. We're
3:44
at 220 g 7.8 O in my US8.5 and the two
3:51
is less shoe. Uh the new foam in version
3:56
two is more reactive,
3:59
more cushioned,
4:01
in no way mushy or soft.
4:03
This definitely
4:06
extends the range of the Turag as
4:09
Killian proved with his magnificent
4:13
third place at Western States.
4:17
The uh version one
4:20
feels a little closer to the ground,
4:23
maybe a bit more agile and quick, but
4:27
not really by much. Version
4:30
two, bit more shoe,
4:34
very comfortable,
4:36
more comfortable than version one where
4:37
the mesh is kind of stiff.
4:42
that knit tongue. We'll see when things
4:45
get rocky, but allows your foot to fold
4:49
forward nicely on the uphills. I found
4:51
that in some other runs.
4:53
Clearly, some attention was definitely
4:57
made to how the shoe flexes going uphill
5:00
or the whole shoe. That means the upper
5:04
as well. with a knit tongue here. Can
5:07
really feel my foot driving forward very
5:10
nicely as I go up this little hill.
5:14
Well, the grip I'm sure is fine, but we
5:17
don't have deep deep lugs.
5:20
This is a very kind of flexible any
5:24
surface outsole.
5:27
So, some comparisons.
5:29
Obviously, the Solomon SL Lab Pulsar 4,
5:34
which is a has, I would say, a more
5:37
stable heel, a bit more cushion there.
5:40
Uh, a very supportive rear of the shoe
5:44
given its really high tongue and the
5:46
construction back there. It has a dual
5:49
foam construction, super critical under
5:53
foot, and then, you know, denser EVA
5:55
below. maybe a bit more protective.
6:00
Uh, this one is more kind of consistent
6:05
and smoother feeling underfoot and
6:10
um with the upper lighter
6:14
in the US 8.5 EU42 the pulsar is 20 gram
6:19
or
6:21
7 oz heavier.
6:24
Go. I would say Pulsar sort of has the
6:29
rear feel of a solid ultra shoe and then
6:32
a very protective front for technical
6:36
terrain. Whereas here we're kind of
6:39
smooth and consistent all the way
6:41
through. The Pulsar 4 has a very similar
6:44
fit, maybe a bit more dialed in overall
6:48
uh compared to this. Uh, another
6:50
energetic ride. The Prodig Pro from
6:53
I prefer the upper here.
6:55
Prodiga upper is kind of stiff although
6:58
it's very uh supportive.
7:00
Um, the Prodiga I think will go a bit
7:03
further from most than our new Kasurag.
7:07
Though in kind of thinking about it
7:10
here, the Kasurag is a great choice if
7:13
you for most of us if you you know have
7:16
runs between 10 and 30 kilometers on
7:19
just about any terrain uh including
7:22
smooth stuff technical. It's a very very
7:24
versatile platform and so light at that
7:27
8 o um or 8 oz uh 7.8 o 220 gram in a US
7:34
uh 8.5. The only shoe that that's gets
7:37
close, I think, is a bit more cushioned
7:39
and stable is the is the incredible Nord
7:43
O5.
7:44
Almost exactly the same weight on a
7:46
broader platform.
7:47
Really, really shines. Although its
7:49
upper is also a very light reinforced.
7:52
It's daineea. Here we have matrix, the
7:54
kevlar fibers. This one, the the rear
7:57
hold is a little bit better. I think the
7:59
uh Norda will go for most of us a bit
8:02
further, although it's pricier. It's uh
8:05
$325,
8:07
I think, versus $195 here. Full uh
8:11
review real soon, but I think this is a
8:13
worthy upgrade with more cushion, a more
8:16
dynamic midsole, only 5 g heavier for 2
8:20
1/2 mm more stack, and with the same
8:23
outsole, a more comfortable kind of
8:26
smoother, very elegant upper here. Uh
8:29
they've done a good job. Thank you very
8:32
much for watching.
