I think you would find the Mach 1 to be a firmer more stable shoe than Ride 7. It should lean more towards longer faster runs than the Ride 7 which I found got unstable especially upfront when tired. Do take note of the issues some have had with the arch area, I think generally those with flatter wider mid foot. If you use this link or the Running Warehouse link at the bottom of the review and our coupon code RTR10 you should be able to get the Mach for about $81 https://www.runningwarehouse.com/catpage-OMHOKAMRS.html?from=rtr
Sam, EditorSam Winebaumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17969086391170473784noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10529476.post-64967326388221570572018-12-16T14:16:39.190-07:002018-12-16T14:16:39.190-07:00First, avid reader of this website for shoe review...First, avid reader of this website for shoe reviews and you all do a great job. On to my question, how does the Mach stack up against the Ride 7? Mach is on clearance now, so curious. I love the Ride 7 - perfect daily trainer. I have shoe ADD and love to try new shoes out. For eference, if it helps, I run an average of 80 miles/wk and have a decent half PR of 1:10:25.CalebEhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10480519756730890275noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10529476.post-54290255742334795982018-06-19T18:56:49.775-06:002018-06-19T18:56:49.775-06:00Hi Greg, Could be a break in issue. with stiffness...Hi Greg, Could be a break in issue. with stiffness Took me 5 or so miles. The issue I had on my 1st 5 mile run is irritation/blister/blood on top of my 4th toe joint. This appears to be at the bend of the shoe on toe-off right where the bottom of the tongue is sewn in. I don't ever recall having this in any shoes before. Any thoughts, advice, or solutions?

Thank you,
DavidDavidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04218009125744972871noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10529476.post-23498572455343529762018-04-15T18:52:47.957-06:002018-04-15T18:52:47.957-06:00HI demian,

Not sure if you had the same issue as I had in the original Clayton but I found an insole with higher sidewalls in that area helped, You could also try a thin flat one say from a race type shoe. Snugger socks, less folding at that point might also help. There is no harm in also trying another insole.
Sam, EditorSam Winebaumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17969086391170473784noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10529476.post-56270450149912189372018-04-15T18:12:29.634-06:002018-04-15T18:12:29.634-06:00Hi Sam,

I'm going to try the ENGO Oval Blister Prevention Patches before I replace the insoles. I really hope it's not a sizing issue. I usually wear an 11 but a 10.5 worked for these. The shoes laces come a bit short so hope that's not a bad sign. Overall love these shoes and hopefully the blister thing goes away. demianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14748017372713240235noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10529476.post-30363997114425638122018-04-14T16:37:32.466-06:002018-04-14T16:37:32.466-06:00This comment has been removed by the author.demianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14748017372713240235noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10529476.post-15322887354602933592018-04-12T19:50:05.768-06:002018-04-12T19:50:05.768-06:00Glad to hear!Glad to hear!Sam Winebaumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17969086391170473784noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10529476.post-86187968162119950532018-04-12T15:42:17.828-06:002018-04-12T15:42:17.828-06:00Yeah seems like it was a quick break in. Very sorry to hear about the blister? H...Hi Demian,
Very sorry to hear about the blister? How far was that first run? They are stiff out of the box which sure can't help. I walked around in them for a day or two then I did first run in them a long one, noticed some very very slight irritation first few miles which by the end of the run had gone away completely. Nothing since. They were noticeably more flexible by the end of the run. In the Clayton I used a dense fairly high cupped old adidas Energy Boost insole to solve the problem. You could also try other older sock liners to see which covers and pads the sidewall and flex point. Let us know now it turns out.
Sam, EditorSam Winebaumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17969086391170473784noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10529476.post-56514078746372305942018-04-11T15:28:51.231-06:002018-04-11T15:28:51.231-06:00I actually did get the blister issue with the Mach...I actually did get the blister issue with the Mach on my first run. All was good after the first run, but unfortunately the issue with the C2 didn't manifest with me for several weeks.

Otherwise, I like the shoe a lot. For me, ample toebox, a 1/4 size larger than the average Hoka in length. Definitely a superior fit to the slightly cramped Clifton 4, and I agree - much prefer the heel on the Mach.Ednoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10529476.post-53168270629484808642018-03-15T09:46:27.051-06:002018-03-15T09:46:27.051-06:00Hi Ed,

I can say that after some early irritation in the Clayton 1 and 2 I have had no issues with the Mach and the blistering/irritation. I have seen some complaining as you have. Seems to affect some more than others due to shape of the arch,. Wear them around and break them in on some shorter runs. If you feel irritation try swapping other sock liners. I found with Clayton 1 that an substantial adidas sockliner with higher side walls helped me but haven't had to change a thing in Mach.
Sam, EditorSam Winebaumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17969086391170473784noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10529476.post-29054955920796201992018-03-15T09:16:33.755-06:002018-03-15T09:16:33.755-06:00I bought the shoes on the review. Yeah that is a good way of putting it. Clayton's flex was abrupt. Longer flex with Mach although still fairly stiff but noticeably less abrupt for me. The Cavu is closer in underfoot ride to Tracer 1 than Mach but is stiffer than Mach. Of course Cavu's upper is super comfortable if a bit more unstructured than the other two. Tracer 2 is being retained at least through spring 18 in the catalog. It is in the competition EVO line/ category along with the Evo Jawz trail racer, Speed Evo andRocket spikes.
Sam. Lateral side less dense mesh for breathability.
